Terms of Service
Last updated August 1, 2026
These Terms of Service govern your use of the SafeMate iOS app and related SafeMate services. By using SafeMate, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
Important safety reminder
SafeMate is a safety aid, not a guarantee. Independently verify urgent requests using contact details you obtain yourself, especially before sending money, sharing account information, or acting on an emergency claim.
1. What SafeMate does
SafeMate is a safety aid for adults. It lets users submit suspicious messages, calls, links, advertisements, and payment requests for AI-assisted scam analysis and transcription. Users can also ask selected people in a family circle for a second opinion according to the user's privacy settings.
2. Safety limitations
SafeMate does not guarantee that content is safe or fraudulent. AI analysis and transcription can miss scams, misunderstand context, or flag legitimate content. SafeMate is not financial, legal, medical, law-enforcement, or emergency advice, and you should not rely on it as the only basis for a decision.
Independently verify urgent requests by contacting the person, bank, business, or agency through contact details you obtain yourself. Contact local emergency services if anyone may be in immediate danger. Contact the relevant bank, card issuer, or payment provider promptly if money or financial information may have been sent.
3. Adult accounts and account security
SafeMate is intended for adults. You must provide accurate account information, protect your sign-in credentials and devices, and tell us promptly if you believe your account has been used without permission. You are responsible for activity performed through your account unless applicable law provides otherwise.
4. Family circles and privacy modes
You choose whom to invite to your family circle and what information is shared. Private, Balanced, and Guardian modes provide different levels of sharing as described in the app. You can review and change your settings, and you should invite only people you trust.
Family-circle members may see information made available under your selected setting, but they do not receive ownership of your account or authority over your finances. Guardian is the name of a SafeMate privacy setting. It does not create legal guardianship or grant legal power over another person.
5. Content you submit
You keep ownership of content you submit. You give SafeMate the limited permission needed to receive, process, store, transmit, and display that content to provide and secure the service. This includes sharing content with family-circle members when your settings or an individual review request allow it.
Submit only content you have a lawful right to share. Our Privacy Policy explains how personal information is handled.
6. Acceptable use
You may not use SafeMate to:
- Break the law or commit, assist, or promote fraud.
- Impersonate, threaten, harass, or exploit another person.
- Submit content you do not have a lawful right to share.
- Distribute malware or other harmful code.
- Interfere with the service or another user.
- Bypass security or access controls, or reverse engineer the service except where applicable law permits it.
- Use automated methods to scrape, overload, probe, or extract data from SafeMate.
- Use SafeMate as an emergency-response service.
7. SafeMate Pro subscriptions
SafeMate Pro is an auto-renewable subscription purchased through Apple In-App Purchase. The price, currency, billing period, and any trial or introductory offer are shown in the app and in Apple's purchase confirmation before you subscribe. Apple processes the payment, while RevenueCat helps SafeMate validate subscription status and provide Pro access.
SafeMate Pro renews automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel it. On iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, and select SafeMate to manage or cancel it. Cancellation prevents a future renewal. Apple's terms govern billing, refunds, and when access ends. Deleting the SafeMate app or your SafeMate account does not by itself cancel an Apple subscription.
8. Service availability and changes
We may update, add, remove, suspend, or discontinue features to maintain, secure, or improve SafeMate or to comply with law. We do not promise that the service will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free. Where reasonably possible, we will give notice of material changes that affect paid service.
9. SafeMate ownership
SafeMate and its software, design, branding, and other service materials are owned by SafeMate or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These terms give you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service. They do not transfer ownership to you.
10. Ending use and termination
You may stop using SafeMate and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you materially breach these terms, use the service fraudulently or unlawfully, create a security risk, or if we must do so by law. Where appropriate, we will provide notice and an opportunity to address the issue. Apple subscriptions must be canceled separately.
11. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, SafeMate is provided "as is" and "as available." We disclaim implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. These disclaimers do not limit rights or warranties that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, SafeMate and its providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, goodwill, or opportunities arising from the service. SafeMate's total liability for claims relating to the service will not exceed the greater of US$100 or the amount you paid for SafeMate during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited, including liability for fraud or other matters where applicable law prohibits a limitation.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, while preserving any mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will post the revised terms with a new last-updated date and provide any additional notice required by law. Continuing to use SafeMate after revised terms take effect means you accept them, except where applicable law requires a different form of consent.
